Why Visit Camden SC?

Why visit Camden SC?  How about six good reasons:

Carolina Cup 2021 at Camden SC

Why visit Camden SC? Only 3% of the population have stayed in a bed and breakfast! In the large crowd pictured that would be 2100.

Did you miss the horses this year?  OH NO! It is one reason why you should visit Camden SC.  They will be back and the fans will be there too!  In 2022, the horses will be running and jumping.  Wear your finest sundress, hats and bowties as you stroll along the railing or participate in a tailgate party on the interior field.

Carolina Motorsports Park (CMP)

CMP is just two turns and 17 miles straight north of Bloomsbury.  This year it will host the Carolina Endurance Cup (CEC).  This three-event points championship will begin on the CMP 2.27 mile track on May 22-23, 2021 and return to CMP for the grand finale on August 21-22, 2021 where the CEC Champions will be crowned.  A Champion will be named for all three racing classes.  It is off to the races and a fun event to watch.

The South Carolina Ag+Art Tour covers 12 counties this year.  Kershaw county will be hosting on Saturday June 5th from 10-5 and Sunday June 6th from 1-3.  Six farms are on the tour: Boykin Mill Farm, Kitchen Garden at Historic Camden, Goat Daddy’s Farm, Quite Content Farm, Canebrake Apiary, and Old McCaskillsFarm.  Some ancillary sites will be Littlefield’s Growers, Triangle Hardware, Winged Star Farms, Kershaw County Farmers Market, and the South Carolina Equine Center.  And, then there are the artisans who will be displaying their waressome of our state’s best homegrown and handmade experiences await your arrival. The tour is self-guided and will be fun for all ages.

Partial Solar Eclipse on 10 June 2021

If you missed the full eclipse in South Carolina, it was amazing, or even last April, we were all mesmerized by the large pink supermoon.  On June 10th, there will a ring of fire solar eclipse. This will be an annular eclipse in which the moon does not fully cover the sun.  The sun’s outer edge will be visible creating the illusion of a ring of fire.  The eclipse lasts for little under four minutes and will begin at 5:49 a.m. eastern time.  The partial solar eclipse will go from 4:12 a.m. to 9:11 eastern time.  We should have a view here in South Carolina.

Tennis and Pickleball for Everyone

A group of people playing pickleball.

September 10-12, the Tennis Center of Camden will be the site of a United States Tennis Association (USTA) youth tournament.  Hosted by books on Broad, over 100 youth and the best South Carolina tennis talent will participate.  Then the next month, the Pickle Ball Plaza will host a one-day team challenge that will include six different local teams.  It is definitely time to put on the sun screen and sun visors and get out in the fresh air to watch the balls flying back and forth.

Blues Festival 7,8, and 9 October

Plan on visiting Camden and listening to some of the best blues you have ever heard.  Events will be at the Kershaw County Arts Center and at venues around town.  Buy a wrist band and move from restaurant to bar and back while listening to some incredible artist and drinking your favorite beverage.
